My Day in Court!!

So I might of mentioned that I had gotten a ticket (No Right Turn on Red) when I was in Baltimore. I was there just a few days being here in Maryland. I was there to see someone from our church get a kidney transplant @ the University of Maryland (donated from her Mom and she -the daughter was in her late 20s). Needless to say I got turned around and well the officer had me pull over. (She was on the side of the road waving me to pull over) Honestly, the officer could of gave me a warning. Instead gave me a ticket for $90 plus points.
Guess, the officer figured that since my plates said NC I'd just pay it and be done. But no ...I contested it. So today I showed up in court. (Amazing how many innocent people there are).
Why would I contest it? It wasn't like I meant to break the law. It wasn't that I wasn't guilty. (But where was the grace and forgiveness from this officer) But fact was I wasn't GUILTY!!! You see the officer had put on my citation that my offense happened on JULY 26 2008! (UMM I was in court on JULY 24th 2008)
So I was trying to get out of my $90 fine and well points against my license. The judge heard my case. Asked a few questions. He said - you really did break it - just the wrong date, right? (Well I had to tell the truth) and he said you can plea NOT Guilty but only to come back to court and try to prove my case. (To which by then we'd be past July 26 - more time and gas money wasted and fact is I could of paid the fine and saved $$$)
So what was the decision? Court costs ($25.50) and have to stay out of trouble for a year. Was worth a visit to Baltimore. Next time I'm in Baltimore - Valerie is driving.
